Amman, December 13th, 2021 – HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC), signed two agreements with the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), represented by H.E. Ali bin Hassan Al-Hammadi, Secretary-General of QRCS. The agreements aim to bolster KHCF’s cooperation with QRCS by funding the treatment costs of Syrian refugees and underprivileged patients at KHCC.
The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Ambassador to Jordan, H.E Mr. Salim Khair, Secretary General of Jordan Red Crescent, Dr. Asem Mansour, Director General of KHCC, and Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish, Director General of KHCF.
Princess Ghida expressed her appreciation for Qatar’s longstanding generous support for KHCF/KHCC, and thanked QRCS for their belief in KHCF/KHCC’s mission and for supporting the treatment of underprivileged and uninsured patients at KHCC.
H.E. Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani said, "The cooperation between Qatar Red Crescent Society and KHCF is a commendable humanitarian effort by all. Qatar has a strong role to play in supporting humanitarian issues around the world and is happy to strengthen these efforts and humanitarian works by standing in solidarity and partnership with Jordan, particularly since Jordan has always embraced a large number of refugees on its lands.”
H.E. Ali bin Hassan Al-Hammadi stated: “This agreement supports efforts to expand the existing cooperation between Qatar and Jordan, and highlights the significant role that QRCS and KHCF have in supporting the underprivileged. Both parties agree that the best way to facilitate the treatment of cancer patients is via collaboration with QRCS’s projects, offices, and delegations, through the transfer of cancer patients to KHCC in Jordan, and finally, by reinforcing mutual efforts to raise support and resources in Qatar to treat patients.”
During their visit, the delegation toured KHCC’s facilities and were shown the latest technology used at KHCC to deliver comprehensive treatment for cancer patients from across the Arab world.
